2017 Harvest Half

It wasn’t part of our original team plan, but a few hardy H+Pers ended up tackling the 2017 Harvest Half in preparation for some of our big fall race goals.  It was a hot and spicey day…and RunWaterloo knew this!  As a result, they upped their aid station presence to make the grinding, exposed country roads much easier to tackle.  Here’s how the team did:

Our Results:

Coach Sean came in 1st with a 1:21:59 finish time.

Jon was in next for the time.  He actually ran the race with a 3x3K tempo workout, still coming in with a 1:31 finishing 5th OA and 2nd in his AG!

Reza came in JUST ahead of Jon, battling the heat to push a very solid 1:35 half PB.  This put him 8th OA and 1st in his AG!

Coach Gill and Vicki ran most of the race together as this was meant to be a steady-state LR!  Gill ended up just pulling away at the end, coming in 1st OA with a 1:35, while VZ finished strong for a 1:37 2nd OA!  Great work ladies, way to rep the team!  Added bonus: Gill takes home $200 with her win, while Vicki takes home $100 for second!

Finally, a HUGE congrats to Heidi on tackling her 1st HM!  She chose a tough course and a hot day to do so, but still managed a great performance, finishing 2nd in her AG!

TEAMS:

The top 5 members (Sean, Jon, Reza, Gill, Vicki) came in with a very respectable 1:32 average.  This is a new Open Team event record!  Great work!

Huge congrats to Don on his 48:33 finish.  This performance brought him in 4th OA and 1st in his AG!

Well done to everybody who got it done on this hot and tough day.  Onwards to the next one!
