H+P Multisport Rankings

We are extremely excited to launch the FIRST version of our H+P multisport rankings!  Finally, a way for our triathletes, cyclists, swimmers, trail runners (and really any event that we can’t convert to a 5K time) to get in on the ranking fun.

HOW IT WORKS

Due to the randomness of cycling, trail and multisport race distances, we can’t rank each athlete to a standardized distance (i.e. the 5K equivalents we use for certified road races).  So, to solve this problem, we are ranking based on what percentile you finish the race in.

I.e. if you place 1st out of 100 people: (1-(1/100))x100%= 99.00!

It’s not perfect, but it does give us an excellent way to allow all of our athletes from a diversity of events to get in on the ranking fun.  Also make note of how much the field size matters!  Somebody who finishes 1st out of 100 will get a 99.00% ranking!  BUT, somebody who finishes #2 out of 1000 participants:

(1-(2/1000)X100%= 99.80!

So, the athlete who finished 2nd in the larger (in theory more competitive field), will rank above the person who finishes 1st out of 100.  Obviously this will be skewed if you do a championship style race where the field is not normally distributed with beginners, novice and expert athletes (i.e. IM World Championships).

Athletes will be ranked based on your best THREE races over the last TWO years.  Here are how our current rankings Top-10 stack up:

If you click on your name, you will also have access to every race you have ever done that has been entered into the system.  As an example, here is coach Sean’s showing all his races from 2017:

EVENT PAGES

How did everybody else on the team do on a given day?  If you click on the event, you will see a complete list of H+Pers who completed the race!  Here is the Rose City Duathlon from earlier this year as an example!
