What a day at Stage 1 of ENDURrun! H+P now has 4 athletes in the top 10 in the ultimate, including 2nd OA for Nick, and 1st and 3rd OA for women for Vicki and Val! In the relay, H+P has 4 of the top 5 teams and 8 of the top 10 teams with the Millennials taking a commanding lead on the shoulders of Peter Haller.
RELAY
Peter Haller showed that his performance at the Chilli half was not a mistake. He came in first out of all relay runners with an outstanding 1:18, giving the team a massive 13:04 lead on the In-Betweeners. Larry Bradley impressed with an impressive 1:22 half, comfortably putting the Master Men in 2nd by a mere 3:41 and a whopping 23 minutes ahead of event record pace!
Vicky Siemon posted a solid 1:32 after coming back from injury, while Lisa represented the masters women team extremely well posting a 1:39! This puts them well ahead of both mixed teams in those challenges. This also puts these two all-star women’s teams in 5th and 6th OA.
Sam and Kayla both posted respectable halfs of 1:45 and 1:52! This will be a battle to the end with a measly 6:21 separating these teams.
Michelle, coming back from injury, ran a great 2:00 for Funatics-2, while Jody Rice posted an excellent 1:43. This is the type of gap Funatics-1 will need if they hope to stay ahead as Funatics-2 stronger runners toe the line!
ULTIMATE
Nick Burt showed he’s here to compete, posting an amazing 1:23 first half and now sits 2nd OA, and 3:58 ahead of 2012 Dave in that challenge. VZ came in with a very impressive 1:32 half, placing her 1st OA for women and 5th OA! Val Hobson came in with very strong 1:33 and now sits only 1:35 behind Vicki with her strongest stages still to come. Thaddeus showed he’s fit and ready to compete, coming in with a 1:34 7 minutes better than his start in 2015. He also sits 8th OA! Andrew came in with a solid 2:05 (on no training?) while Will came in at 2:16, only 2 mins back of 2013 Will.
Up tomorrow…the 15K TT! Good luck team!
