2017 ENDURrun Women’s Masters Team

It’s time to announce our fourth of nine teams for The ENDURrun – The H+P Women’s Masters Team!

We are VERY excited about this squad! For the first time in ENDURrun and H+P history, we proud to be sending an all-women masters team into battle. AND, we’re not simply filling a roster…these ladies are FAST!

Goals:

From sub-20 5k’s to 3:09 marathons, these women are dedicated, competitive and ready to set the event record bar high for future masters women who follow in their footsteps. Not only that, they will be battling against two other evenly matched H+P Mixed teams (rosters coming soon).

Follow the H+P ENDURrun team challenges starting August 13th!

Here’s how the H+P Women’s Masters Team stacks up:

Age: 43
Proud PBs: 3:19 at the 2017 Mississauga Marathon
Advice for training as a masters athlete: Set goals – both big & small. They help to keep you focused and build confidence.
Be consistent with your training. Listen to your body.
Pay attention to your nutrition. It is just as important as the miles you log.
Be proud of what you achieve!

Stage 2: 15km TT

Name: Christine Darragh
Age: 43
Proud PBs: 21:52 ENDURrace 5k. After a winter of being super sick, I was able to finally hit a PB the end of a 75 km week and no taper!
Advice for training as a masters athlete: Listen to your body. Daily hip and glute strengthening has helped me stay injury free this year. And lots of sleep!! Lastly, have fun! We have such great team and it’s been amazing to have such inspiring Masters runners to try and keep up to!

vicki

Stage 3: Bechtel 30km

Name: Tracy Urquhart
Age: 46

kailey

Stage 4: 10-mile Wilmot

Name: Heather Dixon
Age: 49
Proud PBs: Completing Around the Bay 30k in March 2017. Kat & Dem were instrumental in helping me reach that goal! My PB is yet to come…I hope.
Advice for training as a masters athlete: Have fun. Enjoy every moment. Listen to your body. My secret weapon is proper rest! Don’t be afraid to take days off, cross train etc. My other secret is H&P & coach Sean. It is inspiring to run with other incredible, positive, motivated runners. Coach Sean helps me plan & train properly. Nutrition, rest & proper training is key, but most of all, have fun.

Stage 5: Chicopee 25.6km Alpine

Name: Tracey Kuchma
Age: 46
Proud PBs: Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon – 1:46:14. Beat my last PB by 5 minutes!
Advice for training as a masters athlete: Enjoy the run. I find running to be about fitness and mindset. H+P has truly helped me with both. Having running friends and a coach believe in my abilities has positively impacted my mindset. Stay fit and believe you can do it – age is just a number!

erin

Stage 7: Marathon

Name: Val Hobson
Age: 48
Proud PBs: Chicago Marathon 3:09.39 Been chasing a PB in the marathon for 3 years. But 5k 19.53 was pretty great too because I hit the elite master standard for Run Waterloo.
Advice for training as a masters athlete: Put all trust in your spirit animal. (Unless it’s the turtle like mine 😑) Train with people half your age and don’t let anyone tell you you have to stop drinking….beer and wine are perfectly acceptable performance enhancers.
