Another year has (almost) come and gone! What an amazing year 2017 was for the team. We achieved impressive PB’s, we worked together as a team, and we grew as athletes with the help of our teammates! The Holiday Party was a fun way to come together as a team and celebrate all that we have achieved this year – and of course overeat delicious food.
Here is a summary of this year’s festivities:
This year the party took place at Delanghe Chiropractic & Health…and it was PACKED:
The coaches were surprised and honoured to receive 3 amazing gifts from their teammates. Thank you to everyone for your generosity and kindness!
We will add this to our collection and display it proudly along with the 2016 edition!
Thank you all so much for the absolutely unexpected donations. We would like to spend a majority of it on the team ASAP rather than wait for future projects. SO, to help kick off our new Saucony sponsorship, we’re going to pay for $10 of each of the initial 50 discounted singlets!
That means the 1st 50 singlets will be $12 each (moving forward they will be $35)!
Just to give everybody a fair chance (orders are already coming in like crazy):
- Register with the team for ’18 HERE
- Send us a message, reply to this post or send us an e-mail saying you’ve registered and you want a singlet (along with your size).
- We will then do a draw to select the 50 who get the $12 singlets out of the first 75 who do the above!
THANK you again – we hope you all know it was 100% not expected, but we are super excited about the opportunity to get so many people into these new singlets!
We also were excited to have our team vote for and award our MVPs for the 2017 season!
For the women, Emily Hunter was our MVP! Emily has been an integral part of H+P for several years, coaching our early morning Thursday swim practices and supporting the team in so many ways behind-the-scenes. Robyn and Val were our runner ups, who have also had a big positive impact on the club. Well earned by all three – thanks for helping to make our team better for everyone!
On the men’s side, Nick Burt walked away with the MVP award. Nick is always a positive inspiration to all those who interact with him in the club. Jonathan Fugelsang earned 2nd, while Dave Rutherford earned 3rd! Thank you too all three of you, who have all contributed so much to H+P over the years!
The food was, without a doubt, the BEST spread any of us have ever experienced. Mix competition, good eaters, and great chefs, and great things happen!
Of course, there can be only ONE winner, and this year’s champion is Michelle Lennox! Michelle won a Runners’ Surivival kit AND a free entry to RunWaterloo’s Re-Fridgee-Eighter, courtesy of Mike Hewitson!
A H+P holiday party will never be complete without the epic holiday relay challenge, which finishes only when all the eggnog has been chugged! This year, the official win was achieved by ‘THE NEW GUYS’: Reza, Alex, Merzi and Brandon!
Thank you to Mike Hewitson for providing the prizing for the potluck challenge, and to RunWaterloo for generously contributing free 2018 RunWaterloo memberships to our MVPs!
