H+P Athlete of the Month: April, 2019

It’s time for another H+P athlete of the month award as chosen by our 2018 MVPs and 4 runners up as voted by our members along with coach Sean and Gill.

The athlete of the month best exhibits:

-An amazing level of performance (which can mean from a pure performance standpoint OR personal improvement)

-Contribution to the club in a way that makes it better for all

-Actions that help to make our members feel good, stay motivated and continue to strive toward our goal of bringing athletes of all abilities together

On that note, the winner for April 2019 is…

DAVID WAN

It’s been a great month for David!  Coming back from some serious injuries, David was able to tackle the Pittsburgh marathon with a massive PB.  If you know anything about this course, it is NOT fast, so bonus points there.  All of that aside, David has been a hardworking, positive, kind teammate since he joined H+P.  His best performances are definitely still to come, but we didn’t want to wait to recognize him!

Runners up this month were Greg Pogue and Jan!

Greg has been a member of H+P for over a year now and has proven to be one of our most improved athletes.  This improvement culminated with a PB (as a masters athlete anyway) of 1:28:26 at the Mississauga half marathon.  This equates to a 5K equivalent that is almost 40s faster than his ’18 Fall Classic time! On top of that, he’s a hardworking, positive athlete to have around that makes the painful practices a little more palatable!

Jan also had a great month with the team.  He posted a very solid performance of at the World Duathlon Championships placing 30th in his AG.  He also continues to support the crew as a cycling coach and helper to all who need help with bike maintenance.  Behind the scenes, he also now helps to keep the HPWR website updated so we can continue to compete with each other in the most ruthless of ways.  Thank you Jan!

Congrats to the three of you, and thanks for making our club better for all!
