H+P Athlete of the Month: October 2019

It’s time for another H+P athlete of the month award as chosen by our 2018 MVPs and 4 runners up as voted by our members along with coach Sean and Gill.

The athlete of the month best exhibits:

-An amazing level of performance (which can mean from a pure performance standpoint OR personal improvement)

-Contribution to the club in a way that makes it better for all

-Actions that help to make our members feel good, stay motivated and continue to strive toward our goal of bringing athletes of all abilities together

On that note, the winner for October 2019 is…Alex Tohivsky!

What a month it was for Alex!  He’s shown massive improvement all year culminating in a massive 2:53 performance at STWM (the 8th fastest PB in H+P history).  On top of that, known for his inconsistent and aggressive pacing, he absolutely CRUSHED this race execution plan, being one of the few to post a solid negative split on the day.  Not only that, he conquered a chronic injury AND battled his exhausting manual labour job to make training for this race happen.  On top of that, Alex is a die-hard H+Per and always supportive and positive to everybody around him.
Runners up this month went to Erin Fox and Candice Smith!   Erin had an amazing month, posting a 17:10 5k at the Fall Classic. Good enough for an A standard and second place all-time on the H+P 5k PB rankings.  Candice also and a great month, running 18:44 5k at the Fall Classic for a B-standard, her second of the year.
Thanks for helping to make our club great!
