H+P Athlete of the Month: September 2019

It’s time for another H+P athlete of the month award as chosen by our 2018 MVPs and 4 runners up as voted by our members along with coach Sean and Gill.

The athlete of the month best exhibits:

-An amazing level of performance (which can mean from a pure performance standpoint OR personal improvement)

-Contribution to the club in a way that makes it better for all

-Actions that help to make our members feel good, stay motivated and continue to strive toward our goal of bringing athletes of all abilities together

On that note, the winner for September 2019 is…Mike Wan!

What a month it was for Mike!  He posted the 5th fastest marathon PB in H+P history when he ran 2:53:19 in Berlin (only 4s out of 4th place all-time).  On top of that, he also posted a solid 17:51 PB at the Yorkville 5K.  Mike has also proven to be an awesome ambassador to the club form afar, and a positive, hardworking force when he makes the trip to Waterloo for practices!
Close behind Mike in the voting was Lumi Duca who hit the H+P C-Stanard in the half marathon at the Harvest half in 1:36, good for 1st in her AG.  Then, while technically in October, she went next level posting epic 50+ club records running 19:59 in the 5K and 3:23:46 in the full!  To top it off, Lumi is the most humble and supportive teammate ever!
Nur was also up there in the voting this month.  He had an outstanding PB at the Harvest half posting a time of 1:46 and followed it up with a massive PB in the 5K running 21:22. His hard work and positive attitude is really paying dividends.  In addition to all of this, he’s a great teammate who lifts other H+Pers up…and even is trying to teach Coach Sean a new language (Coach Sean is failing).
Thanks for helping to make our club great!
