Unfortunately we’ve had to make a last minute change in our courses due to construction. As of Tuesday May 27th, the loop was fine…as of Wednesday the 28th out loop was torn up at Bearinger :(.
We’re going to make the most of the situation by doing an out and back option for both the 5K and 8K distances. For the 8K it’s basically the same amount of trail/ pavement mix along with seeing your competitors a little more often! For the 5K, it’s definitely more trail than we previously planed, but definitely less elevation- hopefully it runs just as fast. I (coach Sean) ran both courses today and the trail is in great shape!
SOME KEYS:
- Try to stay on the RIGHT of the trail when coming towards an oncoming runner. Otherwise it’s ok to run the tangents.
- 8K runners- don’t turn around at the 5K turn around!
- Stay on the path/ sidewalks for the entire run- no cutting corners!
- We will have the courses marked with a lead bike, the turn around points will be well marked, but make sure to know the courses well on your own- remember this is a low-key, free race!
- The trails will not be closed to the general public, so be nice to and patient with other people out there!
