With the Chilly half in the review mirror, and our next big team races still to come, Run Waterloo‘s March 23rd placement of the 4×2.5K WLU loop was perfect! It gave us a fun, low volume way to compete in a team oriented way that didn’t force us to taper and didn’t really hold that much injury risk. SO, we had 8+ teams toeing the line ready to do battle on the windy, impossible to run perfect-tangent course! We also had many athletes tackling the challenging loop course in the 5K and 10K. Here’s how the team did:
RELAY (Full results)
In the relay, H+P squads were chasing a number of different records and battles within the team.
H+P teams ended up going 1st-6th OA out of the 31 teams that competed. Some highlights include…
The mixed team ended up taking the W and setting a new mixed team event record.
The masters ladies squad was fast enough for 5th place OA, 1st place women’s team, 1st place masters team (among women AND men), and a new event record for masters women!
The mixed masters squad came in just 6 seconds behind the women’s masters team for 2nd OA masters relay on the day. This was also good enough for 6th OA and a new mixed masters event record!
In the pure 2.5K results, H+Pers ended up taking positions 1-13th OA!
On the men’s side, Coach Sean, Ian McCreery and Graham Stonebridge went 1-3rd OA.
One the women’s side, Emily Driedger, Robyn Collins and Coach Gill swept the podium.
A huge props to Merzi and Robyn for being top masters athletes on the day as well!
In the 5K, we had 4 athletes out pushing their limits! A huge props to Brad on placing 2nd OA and finishing as first OA masters athlete.
In the 10K, we had 6 athletes out racing. Ian G was our top finisher coming in 4th OA with a time of 39:27.
Congrats to all who got out and pushed their limits. Thanks to Derek, Julie and Joan for the pics. Onwards to the next race!
