H+P Athlete of the Month: November 2018

Here at H+P we are super excited to start doing a better job of honouring the people who help to make our club possible.

One way we wanted to do that was to start giving out a H+P athlete of the month award. And this athlete is not just chosen at random! Our 2017 MVPs and 4 runners up as voted by our members along with coach Sean and Gill anonymously vote on the athlete they feel best exemplifies:

-An amazing level of performance (which can mean from a pure performance standpoint OR personal improvement)

-Contribution to the club in a way that makes it better for all

-Actions that help to make our members feel good, stay motivated and continue to strive toward our goal of bringing athletes of all abilities together

On that note, the winner for November 2018…

IAN GRZEGORCZYK

New to H+P in 2018, Ian has had an amazing year to date with November 2018 simply being icing in the cake!  He pushed to finish 2nd OA at the RememberRun11K and Santa PurSuit 3K.  Bonus points for PBing the the 11K despite being stopped by the train.  This also pushed him ahead of Aidan Rutherford in the RunWaterloo boost points in the open men category.

As we said, this was just icing on the cake for Ian in 2018.  He has PB’ed every possible distance this year- and his previous bests were not easy to take down.  Check out his rankings page HERESome PB’s this year include his 5K (17:43), 3K (10:25), 1/2 Marathon (1:25:13), 10K (38:17), 8K (32:15), 15K (1:03:55), marathon (3:20:33)…do we have to go on?!

He’s also been a very consistent and hard working member all-year long.  Not all leaders need to be vocal- thanks for inspiring more team grit Ian!

Runners up this month were Kayla Ng and Michele Studhalter!  These ladies went 2 and 3 OA in The Bad Thing 25K trail race this month after length and prolific season.

These two have also been consistent teammates and a positive and encouraging influence on everybody around them.  Thank you both for helping to make the team better!
