H+P Scavenger Hunt II

 

Coach Meredith is at it again!

COVID may or may not be limiting big group stuff in early 2022, so we decided to be prepared with something you can do solo or with some friends- the H+P Scavenger Hunt II!

Over 4 weeks in January and February 2022 we will post a list of scavenger hunt clues, check off as many items as you can on these lists to become the H+P Scavenger Hunt 2022 Champion!

PRIZES: Top male and female get a H+P singlet.  Second place male and female get a H+P running cap.

Week 4- FINAL WEEK (Feb 14th)

How many can you get before time is up?

  1. Show yourself some love today
  2. Toronto, Vancouver and Kitchener have this location name in common. Fortunately we have fewer coyotes.
  3. Can you GPS art “H+P”?
  4. Heritage building: KW & Toronto – each of these were family homes, are located on the same street name, and are both the oldest surviving houses in their areas
  5. Run your fastest mile (of the day) – any 1mi strava segment of your choice
  6. KW & Toronto: this castle is not a castle (any longer)
  7. One month away from spring: can you find a street called “Spring”

Week 3: Jan 31- Feb 6th

How many can you get before time is up?

  1. Race the train between stops
  2. Word Scramble: IENRUSS
  3. What smells so good?

                KW:  mmmmm carbs! Smells so good in this neighbourhood

                Toronto: mmmm if you think you’ve run past a chocolate factory, you might be right

  1. Get out of jail free
  2. Urban Rivers:

                KW: Flows from the west before turning south and meeting the Grand River

                Toronto: Buried in the 1920s can you run over its course (look close and you might find markers)

  1. What goes up – can you get 100m elevation gain in a single run? (obvious GPS fails excluded)
  2. Did you see your shadow today?

 


Week 2 Jan 17th-23rd  

  1. Go a little crazy today, give a little howl on your run
  2. Despite the name, you should probably keep your hands out of the cages here
  3. Going to the dogs
  4. What the puck is going on here
  5. Shred some gnarly pow
  6. Hurry hard and sweep!
  7. You might see lots of horns here but there are no animals

Week 1 Dec 31 – Jan 9th Clues  

How many can you get before time is up?

  1. Run out the old
  2. Run in the new
  3. A wintery street name (any)
  4. This building is on stilts (KW/Toronto)
  5. No winter maintenance, use at your own risk (run carefully)
  6. Dry (feet) January – at least your feet will be dry crossing one of these

 Rules:

  1. Each run must be a minimum distance of 1km and must be logged on Strava
  2. Run past the location (unless it specifies to run a loop or a specific distance)
  3. The same location cannot be used for multiple clues on the same run
  4. On Strava, tag Meredith in the comments of your run with the #s of each clue you hit (you will need to follow/allow Meredith to follow you to tag for the duration of the challenge)
  5. One point per clue (unless otherwise stated)
  6. Clues will be posted a day ahead of the weekly challenge on FB and the H+P blog. The clues are valid for the dates stated in the post.
  7. Standings will be updated at the end of each week.
  8. Meredith is the one and only judge, she has the final say on all scoring!
